The shows are a little hit-or-miss, and the theme song has to go, but Jesse Thorn sure has a lot of episodes of The Sound of Young America for the download. His interview with former con man Simon Lovell was pretty good and pushed me to buy his book How to Cheat at Everything the same day. Also, I can’t stop listening to Kasper Hauser‘s Spicy Pony Head bit. Their This American Life parodys are nearly 100% perfect.

This week, Filmically Perfect discussed RoboCop. When the topic is about a movie I’ve seen, FP is one of my favorite podcasts.

Why doesn’t the superior and highly-listenable Andy Bowers read Slate’s The Explainer podcast?! I was tempted to write The Explainer an email asking for the reason why June Thomas reads it, but I didn’t want to hurt her feelings. But while researching this entry, I was happy to learn they have a book so I could record my own podcasts if I ever decided to quit my job and put my vocal demo together.
