Changing of the guard

Today we are celebrating the newest member of our family: the no-filter humidifier. Loyal readers may or may not know that the first one we used (seen below) was ok, but the filter got really gross. And then I bought new filters from Amazon, but couldn’t find them in the house. Also, the water reservoir seemed to get slimy. Move over, buddy. There’s a more sanitary cool mister in town.

One old humidifier, one new one

Open letter to my wife, or why I still need to talk about Spineless but probably not at home anymore

Nicole:

As you may know, since I have been talking about them nonstop, much to your growing annoyance, Matt‘s recent discovery from the Spineless archives is amazing. A live, distorted blown out spectacle of sound and I haven’t listen to much of anything else since it arrived. Hearing “Asgard Scimitar” for the first time in 10+ years is like reconnecting with a lover who looks better than ever and whose personal riches will allow you to quit your day job. Sadly, “Primer” is still two minutes too long.

I’ll say this to you for the 100,000 time: they should have been one of the biggest math-y bands, but never had the chance. God bless this memory from the archives. I think we should listen to it in the car more. [Bard College archive link]

Zscale and the rainbow

I found this photo as I was looking through my work computer. I think it perfectly sums up everything in my life.
