Nicole hits the road

Nicole and her yellow bike

It was only a matter of time before one of us bought a bike from Manifesto. Why not support the local bike shop? Why not?! Since I have one and a half bikes, it was only natural that Nicole should have the good crew tailor a three-speed for her 6’8″ body, featuring her freakishly long torso.

Souley Vegan Returns!

When Souley Vegan closed their doors, we had to shake our heads and curse the cruel chain of events that brought crispy tofu so close to where we live, only to see it yanked away and kept at a farmer’s market we never could be bothered attending. After an endless series of identical months and days, mostly where I would get up, go to work, come home, eat, watch tv, go to bed, repeat repeat repeat…SOULEY VEGAN HAS RETURNED TO DESTROY THE MONOTONY AND SAMENESS IN OUR LIVES!

Also, the new place is gigantic.

Get Well Soon, Davey Pierce [Of Montreal played The Fox]

Davey Pierce's broken wrist
Something seemed odd when Of Montreal took the stage: Davey Pierce wasn’t playing the bass, his arm was in a cast…and he was playing a keyboard. Man, I can’t tell you how much I was I was hoping for a repeat of the night Davey rocked my world and played some of the best bass I have ever seen. Kevin explains how he broke his wrist “a fortnight” ago and they had to bring in the esteemed Heather McIntosh and some other dude. Life is full of such adjustments.

Fox Theater Tip: never get balcony tickets for a show you suspect might be high energy: it’s like watching a television show about the concert you are seeing.

July 2009

Summer is moving along. In most important news: I’ve been watching The West Wing when I can, which reminds me of summer 2004. And I’ve been listening to more Carcass than ever before.

I made the worst pasta and peas of my life. I used rice noodles instead of delicious wheat-based pasta, and the result was a horrible paste. The only thing that ate well that night was the garbage disposal.

Upcoming blog entry: I like these Tweezerman nail clippers.

My Rapidographs can now be cleaned at the molecular level.

New growth!

I’ve been watering my fern too much.
