I’m sorry June Thomas

I had once written about my irritation with June’s odd accent, and the editors at Slate were reading. They replaced her with someone who is perfectly acceptable, but doesn’t have that magic Explainer-ness. I’d gladly take June back or even Jesse Thorn. The Explainer seems to be boring these days.

Mason Adams: Genius

Sunday Morning Sandwiches

Sloppy Joe

Oakland’s The Breakroom is clearly the finest neighborhood eatery in the entire world. We have dined upon their selection of sandwiches for the past two weekends. Faux meatballs soon after 9am? No problem. Spicy sloppy j’s at 9:30am? They got ‘em. They appear to have the art of pickling down, as they pickle their own cucumbers. I had a fresh pickle today, probably before you even brushed your teeth.
